Answers to common questions about our products, ingredients and how to use them.
Sea moss gel is made by soaking and blending cleaned sea moss with water until it becomes a smooth gel. Sea moss is a type of red seaweed that naturally contains fibre, minerals and other plant compounds. Its exact nutrient content can vary depending on the species, growing conditions and how it is prepared.
Sea moss gel can be added to smoothies, juices, oatmeal, soups, sauces and other foods. Many people also enjoy it straight from the spoon. Start with a small amount and use it in the way that works best for your wellness routine.
Keep your sea moss gel refrigerated at all times. Use a clean spoon when serving it and close the container tightly after each use.
RA Naturals sea moss gel is a fresh product and generally keeps for about 3-4 weeks when properly refrigerated. Because it is freshly prepared, changes in smell, appearance or texture can be signs that it should no longer be used.
Our sea moss gels are prepared as fresh products and are not designed like shelf-stable commercial gels. Ingredients vary by flavour, so customers should always review the ingredient list for the specific product they are purchasing.
Sea moss is a natural ingredient, so variation is normal. Colour, thickness and texture can differ depending on the species of sea moss, where it grew, how it was harvested and how much water is used during preparation.
Seaweed naturally contains iodine, but the amount can vary considerably. Because iodine intake is especially important for people with thyroid conditions, anyone with a thyroid disorder or concerns about iodine intake should speak with a qualified healthcare professional before regularly using sea moss.
People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have thyroid conditions, take medications that may interact with iodine or potassium, have kidney concerns, or have been advised to monitor mineral intake should speak with a qualified healthcare professional before making sea moss a regular part of their diet.
Sprouted hemp seed powder is made from hemp seeds that have been sprouted and then milled into a fine, easy-to-use powder. RA Naturals uses sprouted, milled hemp seed because it provides plant-based protein, healthy fats, fibre and naturally occurring nutrients in a convenient form that can be added to everyday foods and drinks.
Sprouting begins the natural germination process of the seed. During this process, some of the compounds stored inside the seed begin to change, which may help make certain nutrients easier for the body to access and digest. This is one reason RA Naturals chose sprouted hemp rather than simply using conventional hemp seed powder.
Milled simply means the sprouted hemp seeds have been finely ground into a powder. Milling makes the hemp easier to mix into smoothies, oatmeal, plant-based yogurt, soups, baking and other foods while still allowing you to use the whole sprouted seed.
Sprouted hemp seed powder is easy to add to everyday foods. Try blending it into smoothies, stirring it into oatmeal or plant-based yogurt, mixing it into soups, or adding it to baking and homemade snacks. Start with a small amount and adjust based on your taste and routine.
Yes. Hemp protein contains all nine essential amino acids, which means it is considered a complete plant protein. It can be a useful option for people looking to add more plant-based protein to their everyday diet.
Sprouting can change the natural composition of seeds as they begin to germinate. Research suggests this process may reduce some compounds that can interfere with nutrient absorption and may improve the availability or digestibility of certain nutrients. The exact effect can vary depending on the seed and how it is processed.
Yes. Sprouted hemp seed powder is plant-based and can fit well into a vegan diet. It can be added to smoothies, oatmeal, plant-based yogurt, baking and other everyday foods as a source of plant protein, healthy fats and other naturally occurring nutrients.
Hemp comes from the Cannabis sativa plant, but hemp seed foods are different from marijuana. Hemp seeds themselves do not naturally contain meaningful amounts of THC. Trace amounts can sometimes come from contact with other parts of the plant during harvesting or processing, which is why reputable food products are produced to meet applicable safety and regulatory standards.
RA Naturals sea moss soaps are handcrafted using the traditional cold-process method and thoughtfully selected plant-based oils and butters. We also incorporate sea moss into our formulations as part of the botanical inspiration behind the collection. Each batch is made in small quantities and allowed time to properly cure before it is ready to use.
Cold-process soapmaking combines oils and butters with sodium hydroxide through a process called saponification. During this process, the ingredients transform into soap. Unlike some commercial soap-making methods, cold processing allows us to formulate in small batches and carefully select the oils, butters, botanicals and other ingredients used in each bar.
Our soaps are designed for everyday cleansing, but everyone’s skin is different. Individual formulations may contain different oils, butters, clays, botanicals or scent ingredients, so we recommend reviewing the ingredient list for the specific bar you are considering. If you have very sensitive skin or known ingredient sensitivities, patch testing first is a good idea.
Some customers choose to use our soaps on both the face and body, but facial skin can be more sensitive than body skin. We recommend checking the ingredients in the specific soap and paying attention to how your own skin responds. If your skin is particularly sensitive or you are managing a skin condition, a cleanser specifically recommended for your skin may be more appropriate.
Sodium hydroxide, commonly called lye, is necessary to make traditional cold-process soap. During saponification, the sodium hydroxide reacts with the oils and fats to create soap. Our formulas are carefully measured and the finished bars are allowed to cure before use.
Are RA Naturals Soaps Vegan and Cruelty-Free?
RA Naturals focuses on plant-based formulations and does not use animal-derived fats in our cold-process soaps. We do not test our products on animals. Because individual formulations may evolve, we always encourage customers with specific ingredient requirements to review the ingredient list for the particular product they are purchasing.
Some of our soaps are scented and others may have a more natural aroma from the ingredients used in the formulation. Depending on the bar, scent may come from essential oils or other fragrance ingredients. Check the individual product description and ingredient list to choose the option that best suits your preferences.
To help your soap last longer, allow it to dry between uses. Keep the bar on a draining soap dish rather than sitting in standing water, and store unused bars in a cool, dry place. Because handmade soap naturally attracts moisture, proper drying can make a noticeable difference in how long your bar lasts.
